Incident Command System for Water Operators


Students will study the structure of the Incident Command System, the reason for its use, and how it applies to them in emergency situations and day-to-day activities. Students will understand and appreciate the importance of being prepared and ready to assist and collaborate with external agencies. Students will also examine the interconnectedness of ICS, risks, vulnerabilities, and their responsibility during day-to-day operations, and inevitably during incidents. Students will participate in the course via knowledge checks throughout the course and complete a final exam, which will test the student's ability to understand the relationship between ICS and them.

The Course Has Been Approved by TCEQ as a Standalone Resiliency Training Course, fulfilling 2 credit hours in the following operator license areas:

Water and Wastewater Renewal Operator Licenses



Course Objectives:

1. Understand the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and ICS.

2. Learn to NIMS and ICS to day-to-day activities and during emergencies.

3. Understand the importance of NIMS and ICS in Water Systems.

There are no prerequisites for this course.
