Amy Lee currently serves as the Administrative Associate for the Institute for Homeland Security (IHS) at Sam Houston State University. Ms. Lee holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi where she also served as the secretary for both the Society for the Advancement of Management and the Society of Human Resources Management. During that time, Ms. Lee also attended university in the United Kingdom to gain a knowledge base related to the intricacies of international business, specifically the managerial ethics behind doing business in a global marketplace.
While obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Ms. Lee worked with the Boy Scouts of America as an inhouse business manager and spent time volunteering at various summer camps instructing scouts in numerous aspects of archery to include making bows and arrows from items found in nature as well as how to shoot the perfect bull’s eye. Shortly after graduating, Ms. Lee entered the financial sector where she served as a board member for the charity group Team Compass.
For more than a decade Ms. Lee worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), most recently for the Office of the General Counsel, prior to joining the IHS team. While working with the TDCJ she was able to continue to participate in volunteer opportunities, including the STRIVE program which assist female inmates preparing to rejoin the workforce upon release.
In her current role at the IHS, Ms. Lee enjoys supporting the institute by performing key administrative functions and providing insights in relation to her diverse knowledgeable background. Ms. Lee’s goal is to assist the IHS team in the continuation of the professional development of the institute.
